The staff here are amazing and friendly. The exhibits are interesting. I enjoyed how they incorporated outer space, space travel, astronomy, and navigation all together. If you are lucky, the clouds will clear and you can see something in the observatory. The night skies in the Azores are not to be missed.

Small, but surprisingly great place! ☺️ I really enjoyed the passionate guided tour / verbal explanation as much as the different learning activities and learning “boxes”. We were so busy with all what we saw that we forgot to take pictures 😂 Prepare easily for 1-2 or more hours up to your taste to explore all what this space can offer (spoiler - indoor bike virtually around planets! 😄).

Amazing experience for only 2 euros/person (whaat)! Guides were very friendly, nice and knowledgeable. The centrum has lot of interesting activities (for example stacionary bike). We felt there very good and learnt a lot. Hidden gem!

The Observatório Astronómico de Santana (Santana's Astronomical Observatory) is a Science Center in the Azores, part of the Azores' Region Science Center Network, that has science and educational outreach as its main goal, always focusing in the themes of astronomy and space exploration. Our activities are focused on the schools' science educational programs, providing adequate learning bases to all students. We too work for the community, giving our region the access to astronomical material and continued formation to all ages and social backgrounds. More than being a science center, our work is supported on outreach activities, bringing astronomy to people, whoever and wherever they are.
